Rosston City Council

Rosston, AR – The Rosston City Council meet on Monday, June 8th for a regular meeting at 5:30 pm. Mayor Samuel Quarles began the meeting with a call to order, following with the Pledge of Allegiance, and then a prayer by Tia Blakely. The minutes, the May report was “a lot better” with an increase of $4,452 in last month’s receipts. The financial report noted payments for the water system account for the city’s main income, servicing 292 customers.

Next, Mayor Samuel Quarles discussed the annual summer 2026 Arkansas Municipal League Conference with the council. The conference is June 17-19 in Little Rock. The mayor and nine of the other city officials from Rosston are planning to participate. The mayor shared the benefits of attending this meeting are finding out about available grants for the city and locating valuable services to benefit Rosston.
When the time for open discussion came, the mayor brought up the idea of having on-line bill pay for Rosston water customers in the future. He said the council would discuss this at their next meeting. He stated that they would need to answer the question, “what would be the best way to implement this if they decided to go with it”?
After finishing their quick meeting, Mr. Alvis Hamilton, co-owner of the Hamilton-Davis Funeral Home in Stamps, AR, addressed the council and shared the range of burial services that they offer.
