WASHINGTON – The Washington City Council met June 16th. All board members except one, because of another obligation were,
present. The minutes were approved. There was a motion passed on the city revenue.
Mayor Henley said there was a dog in the pen by the fire station, but the dog was gone by lunch.
Mayor Henley asked Mark Roberts about the new fire plugs. Mr. Roberts said they were all working well. Mayor Henley said the fire chief
would be relieved to hear that. Mayor Henley said that there appeared to be a fire plug that was pulled out of the ground. Mr. Roberts said
that he would have to take a look.
Jon Barry, the fire chief for the Old Washington Fire Department, said there were a couple of calls since last meeting. One false alarm from
the park and one medical call. Mayor Henley said that the new brush truck was being recalled, because of the backup camera. Mr. Roberts
said that was only if the camera breaks. Mr. Barry showed the mayor an option for an extractor. An extractor would clean turnouts. The
mayor asked how many fire fighters the department currently had. Mr. Barry said currently 12 firemen. Joshua Williams and Mr. Barry said for a few dues’ notices, finding the right mailing address was a struggle to find them.
Mayor Henley asked Mr. Roberts if the city could hire a drone to check hail damage on the water tank. Mr. Roberts said he had someone in
mind and that he would ask. The mayor passed out a sheet of the buildings that were damaged by the hail on the last full week of
April. Those buildings are: The pavilion, City Hall and both pump houses.
The mayor asked the board if the city should stick with wooden shingles or go with heavy duty asphalt shingles. Catherine Rowe asked
the mayor what the city would do with the received checks (where did he get the checks?) The decision was tabled for the time being.
