HOPE – Extension agents got a full day of hands-on learning at the University of Arkansas Southwest Research and Extension Center last week! The training, organized by Extension Instructor Les Walz, brought together specialists across two very different disciplines.
Dr. Lynhe Demesyeux walked participants through the world of nematodes 🪱, covering which ones matter most for Arkansas producers and taking the group on a lab tour where they extracted and counted nematodes from soil and root samples firsthand.
Dr. Daniel Rivera shared updates from cattle research conducted at SWREC in 2025-2026, and Dr. Ramiro Oliveira covered the U.S. beef industry and reproductive efficacy before the group headed out to the Cow-Calf unit for live demonstrations on tail bleeding, artificial insemination, and chute-side pregnancy detection.
Continuous learning is part of the job, so when a producer in your county has a question, your Extension agent needs to have the answer.
