What started as a small Arkansas business has grown into a company producing approximately 2,000 fried pies each day and serving customers throughout much of the state.
Flywheel Pies was founded in Prescott, Arkansas, in 1984 and quickly became a well-known name across the region for its handmade fried pies. The business changed ownership in 2015, and in 2018 Angela Mitchell joined the company as Operating Manager. She later advanced to General Manager, helping oversee the company’s growth and daily operations. In September 2023, Angela purchased Flywheel Pies, continuing the tradition she had helped build for years.
Since purchasing the company, Angela has focused on maintaining the quality and craftsmanship that have made Flywheel Pies a favorite among customers. Alongside her husband, James Mitchell, she remains actively involved in the day-to-day operation of the business, working alongside a team of seven employees.
At the Flywheel Pies facility in Blevins, dough is made fresh each morning and fillings are prepared daily. Every pie is individually hand-crimped with a fork before being frozen and packaged for distribution. Today, Flywheel Pies supplies restaurants, convenience stores, grocery stores, and other retailers across Arkansas while also serving customers directly from its retail location. In addition to its famous fried pies, the company offers freshly brewed iced coffees and homemade cookies baked from scratch.
