Hope Celebrates 250 Years of America

HOPE, AR – The City of Hope celebrated 250 years of freedom this Saturday on July 4th with the sixth annual “Sparks Fly in July” fireworks show. With a cooling rain shower coming into play earlier in the afternoon, a scorching hot day turned into a much milder night for the event.
The fun began at 5:45 pm with the reading of the Declaration of Independence, with a tag team of bands, the Night Hawk Band and Miller County Line, performing at 6:00 pm and 7:40 pm respectively. A “Most Patriotic Outfit Contest” was held at 8:30 as well.
Many fun activities and varieties of food were offered at the event. Activities for the kids included a bungee jump unit, a bouncy house, a slide, a rock climbing wall, an obstacle maze, and a “gyro ball”, a small ride that spins.
In cue with the importance of the 250th anniversary of our country, the main event was spectacular. Twenty minutes of fireworks sparkled in the sky above the Hope Municipal Airport, with red, white, and blue being the main colors of the show.
Overall, the event was a wonderful homage to our country’s strength and resilience to fight for freedom. Thank you to everyone who helped make this event possible and thank you to our servicemen and servicewomen who have sacrificed everything for us to be free.
