
FULTON – The Fulton Town Council met Monday for their July meeting. After the prayer, Mayor Henry Hale gave the roll call. All but two people were present. Mayor Hale presented the previous meeting’s minutes. There was a passed motion to accept the minutes as read. The motion passed 3-0
James Lamb said that John Pettit checked with vendors for playground equipment for the park while he was at the Arkansas Municipal League Conference. There was a passed motion to accept the park report. Mayor Hale said that he had to pay the water company to have the water quality report in the Hope-Prescott newspaper.
There was a passed motion to accept the water/sewer report. Mayor Hale presented the financial statement:
Street Fund — YTD $48,637.82
General Fund: YTD $35,068.11
Park and Rec YTD $1,880.84
Melissa Oller asked if the city received the Sales Use Tax and Mayor Hale said the city of Fulton did not. There was a passed motion to accept the report. James Lamb gave the fire department report. The pumper is back in service, although the headlights are still needing to be repaired. The ladder truck is in operation, but they will have to have the ladder certified before they used it. There was a passed motion to accept the report. The motion passed 2/1. The water report was presented by Mayor Hale. There was a meeting at the community center held on July 1st. There was a passed motion to
accept the report.
Mayor Hale got a call about forming an Advisory Board, this will be brought up at next meeting. Wanda Kootnz alerted the board to the historical sign at the post office is looking ragged. James Lamb told Mrs. Kootnz to talk to Joshua Williams, as he is a part of the Hempstead County Historical Society, who are repairing old signs in small towns in Hempstead County. Mrs. Kootnz also said that when the overpass floods at the RR overpass on Hwy 355, it causes problems, as no one can get to Hope or Texarkana, due to County Rd 49 being unusable due to big trucks tearing up the road. Mayor Hale said he has talked to the highway
department and will be talking to the ArDOT Hwy Engineer about the problem. There was a passed motion to adjourn. The next meeting will
be on August 3rd, at 6:30 pm at the Fulton Town Hall/Community Center.
