Fulton Town Council meets

FULTON – The Fulton Town Council met on 8-3 at 6:30 PM. After the prayer, there was a roll call. All but Francis Hendrix was present. The previous meeting’s minutes were read and approved, with the corrected misspelled name.

Mayor Henry Hale discussed the park. He told John Pettit that Jay Click would like to get with him to discuss working on getting a grant for the park Mayor Hale also discussed the water report. There was a passed motion to accept the report.

Mayor Hale said that prayers are sent out to Francis Hendrix, because her sister Mary is having surgery today.

Melissa Oller presented the financial statement. She said that July’s financial numbers are not in yet. There was a passed motion to accept the financial report.

John Pettit gave the fire department report. There were 5 calls in July. The Ford F350 brush truck will just be used for grass fires There is a food drive that ends Thursday for those who lost their jobs because of the bakery factory closing. The food will be given to Hope in Action. There was a passed motion to accept the fire department report.

Mayor Hale said that he wanted to hire Jacob Pettit to mow the town park and sides of streets. There was a passed motion to accept Mr. Jacob Pettit.

Mayor Hale discussed the flooding problem below the RR bridge near highway 355. He said that the city has a water leak problem. The plan is to pull the water meters from abandoned houses to the tap.

The floor was opened for questions. Wanda Kootnz asked where her water bill was. Mayor Hale told her that was probably because of the postal system. Mrs. Kootnz also asked the city for support for restoring the historical sign by the post office. She was asked about getting with Josh Williams; she stated she had called and waiting on a call back. No action was taken on this issue.
