Mrs. Betty June Lough, age 84, passed away peacefully in Texarkana surrounded by family, August 14, 2026.
She was born on November 10,1941, in Hope, AR to Enerie and Lois Wheelington.
Betty graduated in 1959 from Hope High School, she was a faithful member at Hinton Methodist Church at Patmos, a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and homemaker.
Betty worked at the Crescent Drug Store, Shan House, Herndon Funeral Home, and Main Street Cleaners before beginning her long career at the Hempstead County courthouse in Hope, AR, where she worked in the Assessor’s office, County Judge’s office, County Clerk’s office, and the Treasurer’s offices. Betty also spent her weekends during the spring, summer, and winter months working craft shows with her beloved Husband, Delmor. Where they were most known for selling Juanita’s peanut brittle and mom’s market dip and soup mixes.
During the summer months she enjoyed spending her time at the lake with her family and beloved friends and acquaintances that they met over the years or traveling. Betty lived her life for her Lord and savior and her family, where she never missed a church service, ballgame, or rodeo for one of her children, grandchildren, or even her great grandchildren.
Betty was preceded in death by her parents Enerie and Lois Wheelington; son Michael Lough; brother Waymond Wheelington; sister Darlene Lyons; brother-in-law Paul Lyons and many close friends and family.
Betty is survived by her loving husband of 65 plus years Delmor Lough of Hope; daughter Belinda Stone and husband, Dwayne of Hope; 2 grandchildren, Amy Smith and husband, Aaron of Bodcaw; Beth Henley and husband, Darren of Hope; 3 great-grandsons, Cutter, Hayzer, and Bayler Henley. There are also numerous very beloved nephews, nieces, cousins and friends surviving her, as well as a host of relatives and friends.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to Pafford Ambulance Service, Hospice of Texarkana, and Arkansas Heart Hospital for the compassionate care and support provided during this difficult time.
A very special thank you goes to The Cottages at Texarkana and their wonderful therapy staff for the kindness, patience, encouragement, and loving care they provided. Your dedication and compassion meant so much to our family and will never be forgotten.
We are deeply grateful to each of you for the care and comfort you provided to our loved one and our family.
Visitation will be Monday August 17, 2026, from 6:00- 8:00 PM at Herndon-Fuqua Funeral Home-Hope chapel.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, August 18, 2026, 10:00 AM at Herndon-Fuqua Funeral Home-Hope chapel.
Burial will follow Memory Gardens cemetery under the direction of Herndon-Fuqua Funeral Homes.
