HOPE – The August 18th Hope City Board meeting included a short public hearing regarding a ANRC Principal Forgiveness Landfill Remediation Bond. Bond Attorney, Taylor Marshall of Friday Firm, was present to discuss the landfill remediation bond ordinance.
The City proposes to issue a waste disposal revenue bond in the maximum principal amount of $521,830 for the purpose of financing a
portion of the costs of betterments and improvements to the City’s solid waste collection and disposal system. Following the hearing, Marshall made a few brief remarks about the bond, and the City Board gave their approval for the bond ordinance.
The Recreation Center was discussed. Clay McGill covered design changes to the recreation center including outdoor restroom,
interior showers, locker room benches, and court striping. The Board approved the construction of a detached restroom facility that will be available for softball field use.
Members were updated on Mandatory Wastewater training for Board Members, reviewed documents to transfer Hospital, and reviewed the LOI for Tyson Property. The Watermelon Festival was discussed with attendance up. Mayor Don Still lauded city employees for their work in helping make the 50th anniversary festival a sucess.
