Washington City Council meets

WASHINGTON – The Washington City Council met on August 18. There was some discussion
about (who) needing some construction help. Mayor Paul Henley said that there were a dog and two cats caught since last meeting.

Jon Barry, the fire chief, gave the fire department report. He said that there wasn’t a lot of calls since last meeting, one notable call was a disposal call, which was 8-18. Mr. Barry said that the service truck’s battery exploded under the hood when he tried to turn the engine on.

There was a special meeting held on 8-12 to vote on a grant to pay for an extractor, which cleans firemen clothes. The extractor will cost $18,000, plus installation. The fire department put out burn ban signs, as the county is under a burn ban.

Mayor Henley said that the gas company, Summit, came to Washington at midnight, recently. They came to repair a gas leak in town, which is fixed. The city marshal, Jacob Wayne was present. Mr. Wayne was present at the council meeting; there is nothing new to report. There was a child that was bitten in recent past by a dog. Mayor Henley asked for an update. The city marshal said the child was recovering and the dog was put down.

The meeting was then adjourned.
