HOPE – Jermal Dotson, 36 of Hope, AR in the 700 block of North Bell Street. Mr. Dotson was charged with Terroristic Act, Battery 3rd Degree and Possession of a Firearm by Certain Persons. Mr. Dotson was transported to the Hempstead County Detention Facility and held pending a first court appearance.
On Tuesday, August 18th, 2026 at 3:00pm, officers with the Hope Police Department arrested
Jelani McCowan, 49 of Hope, AR in the 900 block of North Sherman Street. Mr. McCowan was
charged with Aggravated Assault on a Family/Household Member and Possession of a
Controlled Substance (Methamphetamine). Mr. McCowan was transported to the Hempstead
County Detention Facility and held pending a first court appearance.
