The Cross Roads VFD, Washington VFD, Columbus VFD, Ozan VFD, and the Hempstead County Sheriff’s Department responded to a house fire around 6:30pm Tuesday (9-1). The house is located at 144 Hempstead 310 near Cross Roads. The home was occupied by Rick and Marthell Volentine. It is believed the fire started in a wall but the immediate cause was not known. There were apparently no injuries. The house suffered serious damage.
