Southwest Arkansas Arts Council to host welcome reception for Jennifer Gentry

HOPE — The Southwest Arkansas Arts Council invites the community to a welcome reception honoring Executive Director Jennifer Gentry on Thursday, November 12th, from 5:30 to 6:30 pm at the SWAAC Arts Station, 200 E. Division Street in downtown Hope.

The reception will provide an opportunity to meet Gentry, visit with Arts Council board members, and celebrate a new chapter for the organization.

Gentry, who began serving as Executive Director on September 1st, brings a distinctive blend of artistic talent, educational experience and enthusiasm for community involvement. A children’s author, publisher and speaker, she owns Chuckleberry Books and has published four children’s books: “Shoes On,” “Car Ride,” “Just Eat” and “Impossumble.”

She has presented to hundreds of children at schools and libraries in multiple states and helps young aspiring authors bring their own book dreams to life.

Her background also includes more than a decade as a licensed and nationally certified occupational therapy assistant, including five years serving students at Clinton Primary School.

“Jennifer wasted no time in planning and implementing programs, activities, and events for children, youth, & adults!  She brings her talent, skills, and high energy approach to all she does,” stated Wendy Jones, SWAAC Board President.

Community members are encouraged to stop by, introduce themselves and help welcome Gentry to her leadership role.

Founded in 1986, the Southwest Arkansas Arts Council serves Hope, Hempstead County and the surrounding region through arts programming and cultural enrichment.
