Hope Water & Light Commission Meets

The Hope Water & Light Commission met on Wednesday (10-28). 4 of the 5 commissioners attended.

Minutes of the previous meeting were approved and the financial statements were reviewed.

Bids for the fluoridation project were presented.  Two bids were received with the low bid from TWOBO of $214,000 being accepted by the commissioners.

Possible membership in the Arkansas State Chamber of Commerce was discussed again.  No action was taken on this opportunity.

The board next reviewed the list of records from 2018 for possible destruction.  This is a request the board receives each fall for records roughly 8 years old.  A motion was passed to authorize the destruction of these records.

Next the board reviewed a list of accounts receivables totaling $66,332 that were at least 12 months old for possible write off.  Following discussion, a motion was passed authorizing the write off of these accounts.

Project updates were presented on prepay accounts, Fiber to the Home, The Twin Creek Solar Project, The 3-ring Bus Project, The HWL Solar Project and the West Booster Project.

Under communications, the status of deferred payments and cut-offs were discussed.  In addition, Russell Cornelius gave a brief update on the potential data center project with no action taken.  Finally, the possible sale of raw water from Millwood Lake to Texas was discussed and considered.  A motion was made and passed to not participate in this opportunity.

The commission went into executive session and when they returned Chairman Sitzes reported personnel issues were discussed.  A motion was then passed to begin advertising for a Co-General Manager position in preparation for Russell Cornelius’s impending retirement at the end of April.

With no further business, the meeting was adjourned.
