Saum Resigns As Hope Water & Light General Manager

The Hope Water & Light Commission accepted the resignation of Water & Light General Manager Steve Saum effective August 27th at their meeting on Wednesday. According to a statement released by Hope Water & Light, Commission Chairman Dr. Lester Sitzes, Saum presented the letter of resignation this past Monday but commissioners took no action until the regularly scheduled meeting on the 19th.
Saum has spent the last five years as the utility’s General Manager. He implemented major projects such as the East Substation rebuild, the AMI installation, and the new Customer Information System known as “SMARTHUB”.
According to Saum, “it has been an honor and privalege working with the employees of Hope Water & Light in their efforts to keep the service reliable and rates as low as possible. We are a family and you always hate to leave your family but the utility is in good hands”.
Dr. Sitzes said the Commission is appreciated of the advances at HWL under Saum’s leadership and wish him well in his future endeavors.
