Sales tax collection up from Jan. 2019

PRESCOTT – Sales tax for Prescott and Nevada County generated $258.045.11 in January.
On the city side, the tax brought in $72,305.29, while in the county the amount generated was $185,739.82. Tax collections were up over Jan. 2019 when the city brought in $62,473.70 and the county was at $159,403.72.
For 2019 the city’s tax brought in $852,781.74, while it generated $2,130,778.40 throughout the county for a total of $2,983,560.14.
The bulk of the tax money came from petroleum and coal products manufacturing, $52,809.99, with gas stations next at $26,169.55. Third on the list was the electric power generation at $10,474, followed by water, sewage and other systems, auto repair, other general merchandise, grocery stores, e-shopping and mail order and electronic and appliance stores.
