March Cooler and Wetter Than Normal in Hope

March 2024 was both cooler and wetter than normal.  According to statistics compiled at the Southwest Research and Extension Center near Hope which serves as the city’s official weather station, 5.64 inches of rain was recorded in March.  This compares to the normal average which is 4.92.  Hope was up about three-quarters of an inch for the month.  The year-to-date rainfall is 17.54 inches compared to a normal 3 month total of 13.58 inches meaning Hope is up 3.96 inches of rain.

The average air temperature was 49.77 degrees compared to a normal average of 53.60 degrees meaning Hope was 3.83 degrees cooler than normal in March.  The lowest temperature recorded was 30 degrees recorded on March  19th and 20th.  The high temperature was 82 degrees recorded on March 15th.
