Hit and run crashes claims life of highway worker at Fulton

FULTON – The preliminary report of the death of a contract highway worker Monday morning near Fulton has been released by the Arkansas State Police. Jonathan Gary Williams, 44, of Sherwood, AR was killed when the trailer he was a passenger on was struck by a car at 1:06 am on Interstate 30 Westbound at the 18-mile marker at Fulton.

State Police say Williams was being towed on the trailer by a 2022 Chevrolet 1500 installing reflectors on the roadway when the trailer was struck by a 2004 Buick Century. The driver of the Buick then fled the scene, and no identity, if known, has been released.

The remains were transported to the Arkansas State Crime Lab. State Trooper Holly Romero investigated. This crash led to two additional crashes, one of which claimed the lives of two Hope men.
