
Mildred Hebert Stroderd was born on September 7, 1940, in Iota, Louisiana, and on April 1, 2026, at the age of 85, she passed from this life in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, leaving behind a legacy of grace, devotion, and quiet strength. Her life was a testament to love well kept, duty well done, and joy found in the simple and sacred things of home and family.
For the past 50 years, she was a resident of the Central Community and for over 20 years worked alongside her husband, Herman Stroderd, in their family owned and operated business, Murray’s Central Pharmacy. Additionally, for many years, she volunteered with the St. Alphonsus Nursing Home Ministry and the Bereavement Ministry. She was also a member of the Knights of Columbus Council 2807 Ladies Auxiliary.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 56 years, Herman Stroderd; her parents, W.E. and Rose Hebert; her sister, Barbara “Bobbie” LaCombe; and her brother, Charles Hebert, Sr.
Mildred is survived by her children, Cindi (Mike) Schlatre; Ena Aucoin; Damian (Debbie) Stroderd; Allison (Roger) Istas; and Suzonne Horning. She leaves behind an extensive family tree including 13 grandchildren: Emelie McLellan; Beau (Kim) Schlatre; Lori Beth (Josh) Stewart; Logan (Ashley) Schlatre; Katelyn Marchand; Rebecca Marchand; Ben (Madison) Stroderd; Zoe Istas; Oscar Istas; Jacob Marchand; Phoebe Istas; Joshua (Kyleigh) Marchand; and Moira Istas; as well as 6 great-grandchildren: Laurel Schlatre; Liam McLellan; Drake Schlatre; Annamarie Stroderd; Thorin Miller; and baby Stewart.
Those who knew and loved her shall remember her laughter, her care, her wisdom, and the gentle strength with which she bore both joy and sorrow. The family would like to extend deepest appreciation and love to all those that helped care for Mildred during the final season of her life including: Our Lady of the Lake Hospital and staff, Amedisys, Home Instead, Central Guest House, Central Fire Department, Acadian Ambulance, her host of doctors and nurses and all others that helped through various services, prayers and visits. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Mildred’s name to St. Vincent de Paul Food Pantry of St. Alphonsus Liguori Catholic Church. Arrangements entrusted to Greenoaks Funeral Home.
