William Darryl Muldrew (Drew) – Updated

Mr. William Darryl Muldrew (Drew), 71. of Hope, Arkansas, passed away peacefully at Flo and Phil Jones Hospice House, a subsidiary of St. Bernard’s Regional Medical Center Hospice of Jonesboro, Arkansas. Mr. Muldrew was a simple, comical family man who was serious about everything he ever did. He was a beloved son, brother, husband, father, uncle, cousin, and friend. He was an excellent educator, bus driver, and most importantly a devout and dedicated member of Bethel African Methodist Episcopal Church in Hope, Arkansas where he served actively until his health started to fail.

He was born to the late Mr. William Muldrew and the late Mrs. Velma Davis – Muldrew, on January 2, 1955, in Hope, Arkansas. He spent his formative years in the Hope School system and graduated with the Hope Bobcats Class of 1972. He was preceded in death by both parents, a brother, Ralph Muldrew and a son, William Darryl Muldrew, Jr.

He is survived by and leaves to cherish his many memories, his loving wife of forty-seven years, Mrs. LeAnita Neal – Muldrew, who has been a part of his life since she was seventeen years old in college. His son, Dr. Edwin Keon (Dr. Cherri) Muldrew and daughter, Dr. LaKeicha (Rickey) Cottrell. Three brothers, Kenneth (Patricia) Muldrew, Larry (Patricia) Muldrew all of Hope, Arkansas and Reginald (Betty) Muldrew of Magnolia, Arkansas. Two sisters, Sherry Banks of Little Rock, Arkansas and Valerie (Timothy) Wofford and three grandchildren, Ethan Muldrew, Evan Muldrew and Remi Cottrell.

Mr. Muldrew dedicated his life to being a servant, at church, at school and for the community. He retired from the Hope Public School District after a long successful career, where he served in traditional settings, alternative settings and adult education.

His service will be held at 11:00 A.M., on Saturday, April 18, 2026, at Bethel African Methodist Episcopal Church, 418 S. Laurel St. Hope, Arkansas 71801, where Dr. J. Wayne Rogers serves as Pastor and will be officiating under the direction of Hamilton-Davis Funeral Home of Stamps, Arkansas. There will be a public viewing at Bethel AME church on Friday evening from 3:00 P.M. until 6:00 P.M. His interment will be immediately following his service on Saturday at Scott Memorial Gardens, 400 South Hazel St. Perrytown, Arkansas 71801.

Masks are optional but highly recommended.
