The end of the academic year is a busy time for schools and Prescott is no different.
There is an annual nationwide Congressional high school visual art competition sponsored by US House of Representatives. Bruce Westerman represented Arkansas District 4. For this year’s competition Prescott students Olivia Kimmel won 2nd place and Amy Wheat 3rd!
The title of Miss Kimmel’s piece was “Faceless Figures” and features a woman in an elaborate dress with no face and a suited man obscured by a red curtain in a hallway. It is an acrylic painting stated to show how women have been forgotten and excluded by history.
The title of Miss Wheat’s piece was “Transition Period”. On the left side a time of darkness is shown with a dead flower, the middle representing the restoration of hope with the sun peaking over the dark silt giving hope and on the right making it out of the darkness.
The District announced they have extra 2025-2026 Elementary yearbooks at a cost of $36 for cash or check to PES.
The District celebrated its bus drivers for their dedication in getting the students to and from the school early mornings and late afternoons rain or shine.
The District also congratulated Tye McGuire for signing with the University of Arkansas at Cossatot for Trap and wishes him continued success.
