The Hope Lions head a program Monday (8-17) about their upcoming Christmas Auction from Lion Claudia Griffin. The 77th annual Hope Lions Club Christmas Auction is set for December 3rd through 5th at Hope’s Fair Park Coliseum. Funds collected during the auction pay for food baskets for needy families during the holidays, to provide college scholarships for area students, support for Boys State and Girls State, scouting in Hempstead County, assistance to burn-out victims, help for the homeless, eyeglasses and eye surgeries, diabetes awareness, aid for individuals who have been in disasters, and other local worthy causes. Last year’s auction raised $38,000.
The Lions canvass local businesses to collect items for the auction. Any new business or business that has never been contacted make contact Griffin or any other Hope Lion.
