PRESCOTT – The Nevada County Depot Museum is seeking volunteers for a clean-up at Prairie D’Ane, scheduled for Friday, September 25 and Saturday, September 26, in preparation for the upcoming 2026 Civil War Days reenactment. Water and lunch will be provided. For details or to sign-up for this volunteer opportunity, call 870-887-5821 or email TheDepotMuseum@gmail.com.
Prairie D’Ane Battlefield is a National Landmark site located at 2243 Highway 19 in Prescott, Arkansas. In April 1864 Federal and Confederate forces battled in skirmishes that lasted 4 days and left a lasting impact on the region. The September 25-26 clean-up will prepare the site for a reenactment of this critical event, scheduled for November 7.
“The Depot Museum will be partnering with Historic Washington State Park to present Civil War Days,” said Paul Ridgell, Board President, “but there is still a lot to do to prepare the battle site for the reenactment. We need a lot of help.”
Volunteers are asked to sign-up by calling the Depot Museum at 870-887-5821 or email TheDepotMuseum@gmail.com. Lunch and water will be provided, so signing up in advance is requested. Those who are able to, please bring the following: chainsaws, bushogs, and pole saws. Professionals who volunteer their services can receive a tax receipt upon request.
Prairie D’Ane Battlefield is located just off of I-30 exit 46 in historic Prescott, Arkansas. Anyone who would like to help is invited. The Prairie is preserved by the Nevada County Depot Museum, a 501(c)3 non-profit humanities organization dedicated to preserving and sharing regional history. Volunteers at the 2025 Prairie D’Ane clean-up weekend repaired bridges and cleared debris. This year’s volunteers will assist in preparing the grounds for the November 7 battle reenactment.
