HOPE — The Hempstead County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a fatal incident that occurred during the early morning hours of Sunday, September 20, 2026, in the 900 block of Springlake Road in Spring Hill, Hempstead County.
At approximately 2:32 a.m., Hempstead County Sheriff’s Deputies Johnny Weaver and Wayne were dispatched to Southwest Arkansas Regional Medical Center in reference to an incident that had occurred on Springlake Road.
Upon arrival, deputies contacted Hope Police Department Sgt. Jimmy Bush, who advised that Queyla Orozco 23, had been transported to the hospital in an unresponsive condition at approximately 2:11 a.m.
Responding deputies were told that Orozco jumped from a moving vehicle after an argument with her boyfriend and driver of the vehicle.
At approximately 2:52 a.m., Orozco was pronounced deceased at the hospital.
Hempstead County Coroner David Peters responded to the scene and took custody of Orozco’s body. The body of the 23-year-old was transported to the Arkansas State Crime lab where the Medical Examiner will determine the manner and cause of death.
The Hempstead County Sheriff’s Office is continuing to investigate the circumstances surrounding Orozco’s death. The investigation remains ongoing, and no further conclusions regarding the circumstances or cause of death are being released at this time.
