Jerry Louie Brown
December 19, 1939 – October 5, 2026
Jerry Louie Brown passed away on October 5, 2026, after a long and active life devoted to his family, his faith, his work, and the people he loved.
Jerry was an avid sports fan who could watch just about anything involving a ball. He especially loved his Green Bay Packers and Arkansas Razorbacks, but his loyalty extended to any team coached by Boomer or any team which his grandchildren played. He was their biggest fan and took great pride in cheering them on
Equal to his love of sports was his passion for hunting, a love he proudly passed down to both his children and grandchildren. Jerry believed strongly in doing things the right way, and when it came to hunting, that meant teaching gun safety first. He was a skilled and sharp marksman, rarely missing his target, but his greatest enjoyment came from sharing the outdoors and passing his knowledge and love of the sport on to the generations that followed.
Jerry was a man of extraordinary work ethic. If you ever knew Jerry, you knew that he believed in showing up, doing your best, keeping your word, and doing what was right. He spent 30 years as a postal carrier, a career for which he was recognized for 31 ½ years of service because he never took a sick day. In fact, when he retired, he had nearly a year and a half of accumulated sick leave. That accomplishment was a reflection of the kind of man Jerry was – dependable, committed, and always willing to work.
Retirement did not slow Jerry down. He went on to lay carpet full-time, continuing to work hard and provide for his family. He was never one to sit still for long, and he took great pride in staying busy and being useful. This is a trait that he passed on to his kids and grandchildren.
But perhaps Jerry’s greatest legacy was the way he cared for others. He loved neighbors and believed that if someone needed help, you helped them. He was the kind of person people could count on, without hesitation and without expecting anything in return. His generosity and willingness to lend a hand touched countless lives.
Jerry was community-minded and believed in giving back to the community. He served on the Hope School Board for eight years, including two years as president, where he was committed to supporting the children, families, and staff.
He was a faithful member of Unity Baptist Church and a devoted giver to his church for many years. His faith was an important part of who he was and the example he set for his family.
Jerry was preceded in death by his beloved wife of almost 61 years, Linda Brown, whom he loved dearly; his daughter, Wendy Brown Pharr, the apple of his eye; his parents, Jack and Rubye Brown; his brother, Doyle Brown; his father and mother-in-law, Lile and Mattie Lou Purtle Easterling and his brother-in-law Freddie Easterling.
Jerry is survived by his three boys, Scott Brown of Hope, Allen Brown and wife Shelby of Texarkana, and Brian “Boomer” Brown and wife Annette of Arkadelphia; son-in-law, Terry Pharr of Bentonville. His grandchildren whom he adored: Matt and Megan Brown, Jared and Kandle Brown, Peyton and Anna Brown, Jack and Alli Brown, Eric and Lindsey Brown, Addison Herron, Kolby Brown, Ava Brown, Hailey “Buggie” Brown, Tiffany and Lance Nutt, Valerie and Doug Etheridge, Tammy and Patrick Russell, Tiffany and Nate Currier, and Tyler and Trisha Pharr; great-grandchildren, Sutton “Pretty”, Manning, and Savvy Brown, Tenley Brown and Phil Boswell, Cash and Collins Brown, Avery, Ramsi and Navy Brown, Emma Grace and Henry Nutt and Caston and Augustus Currier and Tripp Pharr. His devoted brother Ronny and Barbara Brown and his sister-in-law Julie Easterling and a special cousin more like his sister, Betty Walters Byers and a host of nieces and nephews. Special devoted friends Pat Smith and Dewayne Adams.
His family was blessed not only to have Jerry as a father and grandfather, but as a guiding influence in their lives. He taught them lessons that cannot be found in a textbook: the importance of a firm handshake, the value of your word, doing what is right even when no one is watching, and understanding that when you commit to something, you follow it through.
Those lessons, along with his work ethic, kindness, faith, and love for his family will remain part of his legacy. Jerry will be deeply missed by the many people who knew and loved him. His family takes comfort in knowing that the example he lived every day will continue through the generations he leaves behind and that one day, we will all be reunited.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt appreciation to Southwest Arkansas Regional Medical Center and its entire staff for the compassionate care provided to Jerry during his illness. A special thank you to Dr. James Miller for his compassion, dedication, and exceptional clinical skills, which made it possible for Jerry to receive the care he needed while remaining close to home and surrounded by the people he loved.
Visitation will be held Monday, October 12, 2026, from 5:00-7:00 pm, at Unity Baptist Church.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 am at Unity Baptist Church on Tuesday, October 13, 2026, with burial to follow at Memory Gardens Cemetery. Services under the direction of East Funeral Home-Downtown.
