Bluff City gets new business
BLUFF CITY – Ribbon cutting ceremonies were held for Big Man’s BBQ and Grocery in Bluff City Thursday morning.
The owner, Christopher Gulley, said he likes cooking and barbecuing. The area, he said, needed something, and he’d been cooking for 10 years, starting out in a small building. The business has been open more than a month, he added, but he and his wife, Lisa, needed time to work out some business kinks and prepare before having a grand opening.
The business offers a menu of “good, hot food” including BBQ ribs, pork and beef, along with chicken, hamburgers, chicken strips, fish sandwiches and crispitos. Sides include fries, jalapeno peppers, baked beans, cole slaw, potato salad, hot wings and onion rings. Big Man’s also offers Flywheel Pies. In addition, Big Man’s offers breakfast, including biscuit and gravy, pancakes, sausage or bacon biscuits and a breakfast plate. The hours are 5 a.m. until 6 p.m. Tuesday through Saturdays. The business also has a line of grocery and household items.
Gulley said they were initially open Mondays, but found they needed a bit more time off – especially since he also drives a log truck part time.
Bluff City Mayor Pam Purifoy said it’s a blessing to see someone in the community able to open a business.
Gulley thanked everyone for showing up, saying he’s happy to provide this service to Bluff City and the surrounding area.
Big Man’s BBQ can be found on Facebook under Big Man’s BBQ and Grocery. The phone number is 870-685-2785. While Gulley doesn’t offer catering at this time, he said it’s something they’re considering doing in the future.
