HOPE – Hope Academy of Public Service Principal Dr. Carol Ann Duke explained on camera to Channel 6 reporter Delano Henry the process for turning shoe patterns produced by HAPS students into finished pairs of shoes as part of the Sole Hope project by HAPS seventh grade students.

Working with donated denim pants and plastic milk cartons, the students produced the patterns for 80 pairs of shoes which will be finished by shoemakers in Uganda and provided free to Ugandan children.

Students Gianna Knoght, Ashlyn Courtney, Hunter Mathis, Richard Ware and Connie Young work with parent volunteer and Hope School Board Member Jimmy Courtney as Henry films the recent Channel 6 feature segment.image
