HOPE – A benefit is being held to help raise money for a member of the Hempstead County Sheriff’s Department who’s suffering from stage 4 Neuroblastoma cancer.

While this “deputy” has never been on patrol, he’s as much a member of the department as are the others. Jonathan Keen, four, is currently undergoing treatment at Arkansas Children’s Hospital. Hempstead County Sheriff James Singleton appointed Keen to the HCSO as a deputy on Dec. 16, 2016.

To help offset the cost of Keen’s medical expenses, a hamburger lunch and cake auction will be held Friday, April 14, from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. at the HCSO. The menu will consist of grilled hamburgers will all the trimmings, chips, cookies and a drink for $7, or any donation patrons may want to contribute.

In addition, a love fund has been set up in the name of Deputy Jonathan Keen at Diamond Bank so those who don’t attend the benefit luncheon can donate and help out.
