Brady Gentry elected as FFA State President

SPRING HILL- Brady Gentry of Spring Hill was elected as the 2017-2018 FFA Arkansas State President. Brady is the son of Anthony and Angie Gentry. He is a recent graduate of Spring Hill High School where he graduated as the co-valedictorian for the class of 2017. During his time at Spring Hill, Brady served as the FFA Chapter President where his advisor was Shane Plyler. Brady received a scholarship to Southern Arkansas University for the 2017-2018 academic year.

While in high school he attended the Bodcaw Sub-Area Leadership contest, where he placed first in public speaking along with placing first in the discussion meet allowing him to compete at district in March. With 60 schools making up the Southern District, Brady placed second in prepared public speaking and third in the discussion meet at the 2017  FFA Leadership Contest.

The 90th Annual Arkansas FFA Convention was held June 6-9 at Camp Couchdale on Lake Catherine, in Hot Springs. During this convention there were keynote speakers, a career show, and the elections of the new state officers. During this time Brady was announced as the 2017-2018 Arkansas State FFA President.

He will have the opportunity to travel the United States and attend numerous leadership conferences and conventions were he will represent the state of Arkansas. During his time in office he will travel the state and speak to various groups and conduct leadership activities.

Brady has attended the Blast Off Conference, which is the first in the series of training conferences for each of the state officers. The blast off meeting is intended to help the officers identify their strengths and develop personal growth plans, aster speech writing and delivery and develop personal management skills. The second conference he has recently attended, is the National Leadership Conference which took place in Traverse City, Michigan. This conference helps officers build on the individual skills learned during Blast Off. It helps the officer teams identify their strengths and weaknesses as a group and learn advanced interpersonal communication strategies and presentation delivery techniques.
