Hope Schools District 2017-18 Calendar Set

HOPE – The 2017-2018 academic year for the Hope Public Schools begins with a series of faculty/administration sessions the first two weeks of August, with the first day of classes set for Aug. 14.
New teacher orientation is set for Aug. 2 at Hope High School from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. New teachers will be given information concerning district technology policy and usage, the Response to Intervention concept, classroom management, district policies and procedures, and general expectations.
Districtwide back to school professional development is set for Aug. 7-10 at HHS, beginning with sessions on community relationships, aspects of school law, the Child Find concept, special education confidentiality, and building-level expectations on Monday. The Tuesday morning session will deal with district digital reporting applications, and Wednesday will involve building-level information.
Open House on all campuses in the district is set for Aug. 10 from 1-7 p.m. with activities planned at each campus. Parents and students will have an opportunity to meet teachers, find classrooms and learn about class expectations for the year.
The first day of classes begins at 7:50 a.m. on Aug. 14, with the end of the first quarter on Oct. 13. The second academic quarter closes Dec. 22, and the third quarter closes March 9. The last day of classes for the year will be May 25.
Early dismissal days are set for Oct. 4, Nov. 1, Dec. 6, Feb. 7, March 7, April 4, and May 2.
Parent/teacher conference dates are Oct. 26 and March 15. No classes will be conducted the day after on Oct. 27 and March 16.
The holiday schedule for the district begins with Labor Day on Sept. 4; Thanksgiving break, Nov. 20-24; Christmas break, Dec. 25 – Jan. 5; Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., Day, Jan. 15; Winter break, Feb. 16-18; Presidents’ Day, Feb. 19; Spring break, March 19-23; and Good Friday, March 30.image
