Bears fall to the Red Devils

The Bears traveled to Mountain Pine, home of the red devils, this Friday to continue on with conference play. The game kicked off at 7:00 with the captains for the night being, #73 KC Harvell and #79 Aaron Barnett. The Devils got first possession for the night with the kick from #81. Devils catch the ball on the 38 yard line and is brought down by Hays Martin. Devils attempt a couple runs but are shut down by the Bears. Spring Hill’s defense did a good job holding the Devils at the beginning and after a fumble from the Devils, recover the ball on the 20 yard line. Bears first-and-ten. Payton Massanelli hands the ball to Lewis Chambers but gets brought back for a loss on the play. Devils defense holds us again on the third down so Bears get in punt formation with Massanelli back to kick. Devils take over on their 40 yard line. Drake Kidd makes the tackle on their quarterback keeper, giving them no gain on the play. The Devils break through on the second down and make their first touchdown and extra point. Bears are deep to receive the kick off, Cameron Middleton runs it to the Bears 33 yard line. The Bears have a fumble on the play, recovered by the Devils. They take over on the Bears 36 yard line. Devils get 3 first downs and are able to score their second touchdown of the night making the score, 14-0.

Dustin Beck gets the kick and is able to run it to the Bears 30 yard line. The Bears get two more first downs with a couple hand offs to Keymonte Rhodes. On the second down Massanelli hands it off to Rhodes for the Bears first touchdown of the night. Score is 21-7 at the end of the first quarter. To start off the second quarter, Devils get another touchdown on the second down, making the score 27-7. Dustin Beck gats the kick again, running it to the 42 yard line. The Bears have no luck getting the first down so Massanelli is back in punt formation and its Devils ball again. Devils make a fumble but are able to recover it and then run it back for their 5th touchdown on the second down. Devils kick an offside kick but the Bears are able to keep possession. Bears are still having a hard time penetrating the Devils defense so they are back in punt formation but the Devils are able to deflect the kick and get the ball on the Bears 29 yard line. Devils take it back for another touchdown on just the first down, score is now 42-7 with 4:42 left in the first half. Bears are unable to score again until the 4th quarter. The second touchdown for the bears is made by Keymonte Rhodes with a handoff by Parker Freeman, the score is 54-13 with 2:58 left in the game. Bears defense is able to hold the Devils for the remainder of the game and the score for the night will be Mountain Pine 54 and Spring Hill 13. The Bears will play at home next week against the Murfreesboro Rattlers, kick off at 7:00.
