HOPE -The University of Arkansas Hope-Texarkana recently added two new employees to the new TRiO Upward Bound Program at the college.
Kimberly Bursey-Reece, the new Student Development Coordinator for the program, has a Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics/Engineering from Prairie View A&M University and a Master’s degree in Education from Texas A&M University-Texarkana. Ne’Shay Brown, the new Curriculum Coordinator for the program, has a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology and Sociology and a Master’s degree in Student Affairs and College Counseling from Southern Arkansas University.
The new coordinators will advise students on secondary and post-secondary course selections and assist students in completing college admissions applications and financial aid applications.
“The knowledge and experience of Ms. Bursey-Reece and Ms. Brown make them wonderful assets to the Upward Bound Program and UAHT,” said Nicole Woods, Upward Bound Director.
The TRiO Upward Bound Program will serve 60 students in grades 9-12 from Hope Public School District and Texarkana Arkansas School District. Upward Bound goals include raising high school GPAs to a level consistent with college entry, preparing students for successful application and admission into college, and helping students and families pursue federal financial aid and other funding sources to attend college.
