PRESCOTT – On Friday, Jan. 5, Deputy Bo Morris and Deputy Bernard Box were dispatch to a residence located on 2200 block Highway 299 in reference to a disorderly subject causing damage to his parents’ residence.

Deputies arrived on scene and found 27-year-old W/M Zackary Cross had locked himself inside the bathroom of the residence. Cross was kicking the door talking strangely and screaming profanities at his parents.

Deputies attempted to talk Cross out of the bathroom with no success.

Deputy Jeremy Hendrix arrived on scene to assist. Deputies were able to administer pepper spray through the top of the door to get Cross back away from the door so entry could be made.

Deputies entered the bathroom at this time attempting to take Cross into custody. Cross became combative. Deputy Hendrix attempted to subdue Cross using his Taser. The taser had no effect on Cross at the time. Deputy Box used pepper spray on Cross giving enough leverage for the Deputies to take Cross down to the floor. Deputies attempted to handcuff Cross at this time. Cross attempted to kick the deputies numerous time. After Cuffs were placed on Cross w Cross refused to walk on his own. While trying to assist Cross to the vehicle he kicked Deputy Hendrix in the groin area. Cross was then hobbled and carried to the patrol unit.

Cross was transported to the Nevada County Detention facility where he was held for first appearance on the charges of criminal mischief, second degree battery and resisting arrest.
