Hope Schools Hold Public Meeting On District Facilities Master Plan
Hope Schools Superintendent Bobby Hart and School Board member Kathryn Dickinson discuss the district’s facilities master plan at a public meeting Thursday January 11th at the school administration building. The district has to update the plan and have a public meeting for comments every two years. Mr. Hart said the district is planning to do some roofing projects at Hope High and the Garland campus where the Hope Academy of Public Service is located. The district also would like to build a new P.E. facility on the Yerger campus. Mr. Hart says that project doesn’t mean they would demolish the old Yerger gym and there are no plans to tear anything down. The district plans to seek state funds on all the proposed work although Mr. Hart is not necessarily optimistic the state will assist with a P.E. facility at Yerger. He notes the estimates for such a facility would be $1.5 to $2.5 million dollars. The Garland project is estimated at $650,000 and the high school roofing project was estimated at $830,000. Mr. Hart says the district’s “state wealth index” means the state will pick up 53% of any project they approve.
