As part of the Centennial of World War I, each county in Arkansas has been encouraged to plant a tree to commemorate the “war to end all wars”. The community of McNab requested and was granted to be the site of the World War I tree in Hempstead County. On Tuesday February 13th the town of McNab hosted the ceremony to plant the tree. Prosecutor Christi McQueen read the World War I Tree proclamation and John Beasley of the Arkansas Forestry Commission brought a 2 year old Willow tree which was planted at the McNab Park. He joined McQueen, McNab Mayor James T. Conway, and numerous local residents and veterans who turned out for the event. Due to the cold and damp weather, most of the ceremony took place at the park pavilion.
