Hollis Shipp, age 84, of Hope, AR passed away Saturday, November 3, 2018 in Hope, AR. Hollis was born September 24, 1934 in Prescott, Arkansas. He was the youngest of 7, with 3 brothers and 3 sisters. He married Helen (Bobo) in 1954 and they moved to Dallas. Carol and Kelly were raised there as Hollis and Helen both worked. Over the years, he was a distributor for Sunbeam Bread, Fritos, Pepperidge Farm, Little Debbie Snack Cakes and Mac Tools. He later owned a popular Exxon station in Hope, Ar. Aside from working, his favorite past-time was playing golf with his buddies after work, and spending time with family and friends while cooking hamburgers on the grill with his famous, Shipp’s BBQ Sauce.

He really enjoyed working with his hands and loved being outside. He wasn’t one to sit around the house. In the early days it was work and golf, whereas later in life, he had a passion for farming and cattle. He was always very self-sufficient. You could hand him any tool and he already knew how to use it. He built the house they have been living in Hope.

One of the more common compliments he gets is that “They don’t make ‘em like him anymore”. He’s a hard worker, he stands behind his word (if he tells you he’s going to do something, he will do it), very loyal, he can fix just about anything, has many friends, and he has a big heart.

He and Helen just recently celebrated their 64th wedding anniversary.
