United Way of Hempstead County Penny Drives
Every year our local schools support the United Way of Hempstead County by hosting a penny drive. These schools are off to a great start and have raised $3,000.05 so far! United Way appreciates each of these schools and the people that make this happen.
Clinton Primary raised $2,070.94 (1079 lbs). Our partner, McDonalds, treated the two winning classes to lunch. McDonald’s has supported United Way for many many years and we could not do all we do without them.
Blevins Elementary raised $278.08, Beryl Henry raised $245.09, Hope Academy of Public Service raised $136.32 and Spring Hill Elementary raised $269.62. The winning classes at these schools were treated to a popcorn party.
First United Methodist Church Preschool and Garrett Memorial Christian School will host their drives after the first of the year.
United Way of Hempstead County supports thirteen local agencies. If you would like to donate please contact President Monica Morris, monica.morris@swaec.org or United Way Executive Director Gina Perkins, gina.perkins@swaec.org. We would love for every business in Hempstead County to support our efforts in providing much-needed resources to those in need in our county.
