City of Hope Gets Grant

The city of Hope is receiving more grant funds to complete the work on the city rail spur. The $125,000 grant will be tied to job creation at New Millenium. The Economic Grant comes through the Arkansas Economic Development Commission. On hand to sign all the papers for the grant Tuesday at City Hall were Hope City Manager Catherine Cook, Mark Williams, Production Manager of New Millenium, Blake Harrell of Southwest Arkansas Planning and Development District, Shelly Morehead of Southwest Arkansas Planning and Development District, and Carol Bray of the Arkansas Ecomic Development Commission.
Cook said following the meeting at City Hall the project is progressing well. She noted most of the dirt work is finished and the project is on track to be finished in September of this year. The project will cost over $1.7 million dollars and is strictly to aid the industries in the Hope Industrial Park. The city didn’t build the spur originally but when the company that built it ceased operations it was transferred to the city.
