GENOA – The Prescott Curley Cubs traveled to Genoa for the 2019 7-3A Junior High District Track Meet looking to win their 16th straight district title.

After a long day of battling the weather and six other schools the Curley Cubs were able to pull away and win the meet with 205 points.  Ashdown finished as runner-up with 186.5 points, Genoa was third with 96 points, Centerpoint was fourth with 58 points, Bismarck fifth with 32 points, Smackover sixth with 24.5 points, and Fouke did not score.

Jaylen Hopson led the Cubs in scoring as he won the high point award with a perfect 45 points.  He won the long jump with a jump of 18-10, triple jump with a jump of 41-0, won the 100-meter dash (11.55), 200-meter dash (24.52), and was on the winning 4×100 meter relay and winning 4×400 meter relay.  Caleb Harris was second in scoring with 26 points as he won the shot put with a throw of 53-5 to remain unbeaten on the season, finished second in the discus with a throw of 133-3, and finished second in the 110-meter hurdles with a time of 18.54.  Harris was injured near the end of the 110-meter hurdles or he would have won the race handily.  This also kept him from competing in the 300-meter hurdles where he would’ve been the favorite.  Harris broke the school record earlier in the year in the shot put with a throw of 54-5.5.  The previous record was set in 1978 by Cole with a throw of 51-9.  Jacaylon Zachery and John Luke Kaiser both scored 14.5 points for the Cubs.  Zachery did it by finishing 3rd in the 100-meter dash (12.12), 3rd in the 200 meter dash (25.51), and anchored the winning 4×100 meter relay team.  Zachery also competed in the long jump (16-4), and the triple jump ((33-5).  Kaiser finished in a tie for 5th in the pole vault with a jump of 9-6, 4th in the 110 meter hurdles (18.74), and 3rd in the 300 meter hurdles (48.24).  Carston Poole was next in scoring with 12 points.  Poole finished 5th in the 1600 meter run with a time of 5:30.12, 5th in the 800 meter run with a time of 2:26.60, tied for 7th in the high jump with a jump of 5-2, anchored the winning 4×800 meter relay team, and also competed in the long jump (16-2), and triple jump (35-0).  Jason Patrick Jr. scored 10 points by winning the discus with a throw of 153-1 to remain unbeaten on the season and filled in in the shot put (30-5).
