Washington Fire Department receives donation

Jennifer Harland, SWEPCO External Affairs Manager presented a $500 check to the Washington Fire Department Auxiliary for the purchase of needed fire protection equipment.
The Fire Auxiliary purchased handheld radios for the Washington Fire Department last month and will be upgrading turnout gear later this year.

The Washington Fire Department provides fire protection within a five radius of Washington, Arkansas. The Department provides fire protection for ten million dollars of Historic Washington State Park property, five churches, several Pioneer Washington Restoration Foundation buildings, 183 resident’s property, timber land and pasture land. The Volunteer Fire Department Chief is Jon Barry.

In addition to fire protection, the Washington Fire Department has several qualified emergency first responders.
