Court gets jail figures

PRESCOTT – As of Aug. 13, the Nevada County Jail housed 73 inmates and made $1,740 on Aug. 13 alone.

This information was presented to the Nevada County Quorum Court at its August meeting Tuesday. According to the report, prepared by Deputy Robert Missey, 11 of the inmates were local, with one from Prescott, 12 from Clark County, 13 from Hot Spring County, eight from Little River County, 13 from the Arkansas Department of Corrections, five 309 inmates, six transport and four ACC inmates.

To date, this year, the jail has made $314,182.71. Housing inmates has brought in $328,365.45, while the 1/4 cent sales tax has generated $154,335,63. Bills, though, have totaled $168,518.37, leaving $314,182.71. However, other expenses come out of these monies as well.

For 2019, there have been 534 male inmates and 459 female inmates in the NC Jail, with 888 being released. The average daily population this year has been 75. 4 with the average length of stay being 12.5 days.
