NRA banquet Sept. 28

PRESCOTT – This year’s gun of the year set for the Piney Woods Friends of the NRA is teh Sig Sauer P210 9mm.

This handgun will go home with some lucky winner at this year’s banquet, Saturday, Sept. 28, at the Potlatch Building at the Nevada County Fairgrounds. Other NRA exclusives available at the banquet include: a Kimber Micro 9; Henry single show .45-70 rifle; Mossberg 500 pump shotgun; Sauer 100 classic XT 6.5 Creedmore rifle; S&W Model 60 .357 magnum revolver; and CMMG 9mm pistol.

There are several package deals available as well. The $100 deal includes a chance on five guns, the early bird, three blue ticket and one white bucket guns along with an additional bucket raffle item and dinner for one. The $250 package includes a chance on eight guns and two dinners. The $600 package includes eight dinners and eight chances on the early bird special along with one state raffle chance. The $800 table includes eight dinners, eight chances on the early bird gun, one state raffle chance and the choice of either a Ruger 6.5 Creedmore, Savage Axis II XP 25-06 with scope, Ruger Security 9mm or Keltec PMR 30. Custom tables are also available. Tables go up to $2,000.

The state bonus three gun raffle for one winner includes the choice of a Kimber Custom II .45; Ruger Carbine 9mm rifle; or the Keltec PMR 30 .22 magnum.

Money raised from the banquet and auction will be used as grants for shooting sports. Brandon Stewart said around $7,000 went to Hempstead County for 4-H shooting sports. Any school with a shooting program can apply for a grant from the Piney Woods Friends of the NRA and the funds can be used to purchase ammo, targets and weapons.
