The annual Dr. Martin Luther King Celebration in Hope won’t be held in the traditional way this year.  According to Hazel Simpson, the sponsoring Black Historical Society has contacted local churches and asked them to hold their own COVID-safe celebrations.  Simpson says they are asking churches to hold a socially distanced celebration in their parking lot or to hold a virtual ceremony.  Among the churches that have contacted about holding such a celebration is Greater Hope Baptist Church, Haynes Chapel Baptist Church, New Bethel Baptist Chruch, UCC in Emmet, Mt. Zion CME Church, Pentecostal Temple, Greater St. Luke in Guernsey, Macedonia Baptist, Lonoke Baptist, True Faith Fellowship, Bethel AME on Laurel in Hope, and Charity Baptist in Fulton.  Simpson called on all the churches to remember Dr. King on Monday.
