HOPEThe Hope Public Schools issued the following statement today regarding an incident at Yerger Middle School:

At approximately 11:00 a.m. on April 6, 2022, four Yerger Middle School students began exhibiting signs of medical distress. Yerger administrators immediately rendered medical assistance, and the students were then transported to a local medical facility.

Yerger administrators also notified Superintendent Dr. Jonathan Crossley, who made the decision to contact local law enforcement. Hope Police Department officers searched the school premises for prohibited substances. The parents of all involved students have been contacted. The District believes this is an isolated incident. Classes continued as usual, until all students were dismissed according to the planned early out schedule for today.

HPS administration, and the staff of each of the district’s schools, take safety very seriously. At HPS we’re committed to maintaining an environment free of illicit substances. We will use this as an opportunity to have continuing conversations with students about the dangers of prescription, non-prescription, and illegal drugs.
