Hale carries county, Oliver reelected mayor

PRESCOTT -Ben Hale easily carried Nevada County in the race for 8th Judicial District North Prosecuting Attorney, while Prescott Mayor Terry Oliver retained his post after Tuesday’s primary election.

In early voting, 583 votes were cast, while 1,583 ballots were cast overall. This breaks down to 946 on election day, 583 in early voting and 54 absentee ballots. For GOP candidates 849 votes cast, with 607 Tuesday, 228 early and 14 absentee. A total of 709 votes were cast for Democrat candidates, with 327 the on election day, 342 in early voting and 40 by absentee ballot.

In early voting for US Senate on the Republican side Heath Loftis received three votes, Jake Bequett got 45 votes, Jan Mortan, 32, John Boozman, 147, with one undervote.

For attorney general on the GOP ticket: Leon Jones, Jr., 222 votes, Tim Griffin, 199, with seven undervotes in early voting.

There was no surprise in early voting for GOP gubernatorial candidates. Sarah Sanders garnered 206 votes while Francis “Doc” Washburn received 22.

In the GOP Lt. Gov. race for early voting, Doyle Webb, 4, Jason Rapert 11, Greg Bledsoe, 16, Chis Bequette, 15, Joseph Wood, 6, and Leslie Rutledge, 173. There were three undervotes.

For GOP Secretary of state, Eddie Joe Williams, 30, John Thurston, 189.

For GOP State Treasure; Mark Lowery, 177, Mathew Pitsch, 36, with 15 undervotes.

For Republican State Senate District 3: Charles Beckham, 123, Steve Crowell, 101, with four undervotes.

For GOP Constable of Emmet Township: Tom Hand, 2, Ryan McBrayer, 7.

Unopposed GOP candidates received 192 votes, with 36 undervotes.

On the Democratic side in early voting, Natalie Jones led the race for US Senate with 156 votes. Jack E. Foster, 67, Dan Whitfield, 63, with 56 undervotes.

For governor: Supha Xayprasith-Mays, 7, Chris Jones, 1160, Anthony Bland, 40, James Russell, III, 33, Jay Martin, 53, and there were 49 undervotes.

For Secretary of State: Josh Price, 119, Anna Beth Gorman, 161, with 62 undervotes.

For Justice of the Peace, district 5, Mike Ridling, 10, Eric Jackson, 13.

In the Prescott Mayor’s race, Terry Oliver received 169 votes, with Colby Tillman garnering 89, with two undervotes.

For Prescott City Council Ward 1, Position W, Satarra Williams, 49, Jimmy Brown, 31, with eight undervotes.

Unopposed candidates pulled in 251 votes with 91  undervotes.

In the nonpartisan races, for State Supreme Court Associate Justice Position 2: Robin Wynn, 242, David Sterling, 145, Chris Carnahan, 120, with 76 undervotes.

For Supreme Court Associate Justice Position 6: Karen Baker, 324; Gunner DeLay, 177, with 82 undervotes.

For Prosecuting Attorney, 8N: Blake Montgomery 111; Ben hale 451, with 11 undervotes.

Unopposed nonpartisan judicial candidates pulled in 412 votes with 171 undervotes.

The final tally showed 1,583 of 5,744 registered voters casting ballots in the election. Of these, 946 were cast Tuesday, with 583 as early ballots and 54 absentee. A total of 849 were cast in for Republican candidates, with 607 cast on election day and 228 in early voting with 14 as absentee ballots. For the Democratic candidates, 709 ballots were cast with 327 on election day, 342 early and 40 absentee.
