Claude Nathaniel Maulden, 75, of Hope

Claude Nathaniel Mauldin was born on November 9, 1946 to John and Birdie Lee Ross Mauldin.  He was the third of six children.  He confessed his love for Christ at an early age during Vacation Bible School at Lonoke Baptist Church.
He was united in marriage to Anita Joyce Booker and they were blessed with one son, James Bernard Mauldin, who preceded him in death. He was also preceded in death by his parents, John and Birdie Mauldin.
Claude attended Shover Street Elementary School from first through sixth grades. He graduated from Yerger High School in 1966, there he was recognized as an outstanding football player for the Yerger Tigers. Claude then attended AM&N college now known as University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff.  In 1970 he received a Bachelor of Science degree in Education.
He taught 30 years and coached several years for the Kansas City Missouri Public School District. During his coaching career his football teams won many championships. While there, he was also an excellent art teacher. He was inducted into the Hope High School Hall of Fame in 1970 for his outstanding abilities in football and his love for children.
He transitioned this life on October 20, 2022, at Heather Manor Nursing Home in Hope, Arkansas.
He leaves to cherish his memory:
Two brothers: James Batch (Debra) of Los Angeles, California and John Jerry Mauldin (Maria) of Gilbert, Arizona
Three sisters: Carrie Jones of Texarkana, Arkansas, Margaret Moss of Hope, Arkansas and Letish Wynn of Texarkana, Arkansas.
Grandsons: James Mauldin Jr. of Pine Bluff, Arkansas and Jaylon Mauldin of El Paso, Texas.
One Aunt: Betty Ross Morrison, Hope, Arkansas and
a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Services were held Saturday at Lonoke Baptist Church with burial in Scott’s Memorial Gardens in Perrytown under the direction of Hicks Funeral Home of Hope.
