Master Gardeners’ Plant Show April 15

PRESCOTT – April 15 will be something different from tax day in Prescott.

The Nevada County Master Gardeners will be hosting the 13th Annual Garden Show and Plant Sale at the Barn at Willow Oak Acres.

Registration begins at 7:30 a.m. with plant sales, refreshments and the silent auction of tabletop items. At 8:30 is the welcome and first round of door prizes, followed by a low flow irrigation demonstration by Ralph Harris from 8:45-9:15. From 9:15-9:45 there will be a “break and shop”, more door prizes, and, of course plant sales, along with the silent auction. From 9:45-10″45 Janet Carson will talk about native annuals and perennials. At 10:45 there’s another break and shop, door prizes and the close of the silent auction. Carson returns from 11:15-12:15 to talk about native trees and shrubs. The event will end at 12:5-12:20 with the announcement of winners from the silent auction and more door prizes.

Advance tickets are $15 and are $20 at the door. Those planning to attend can pre-order a sack lunch made by the Tri-Service Club. These lunches are $8 each.

Carson lives in Little Rock, has her Bachelor and Masters of Science degrees from the UA Fayetteville. She began as a county agent in Pulaski County and started the Arkansas Master Gardener Program in 1980. When she completed her MS, Carson moved to the Arkansas Extension Service as the statewide horticulture specialist. She retired Jan. 2, 2019 after 38 years.

Harris, a member of the NC Master Gardeners, retired from the Natural Resources Conservation Service in 2018 after 38 years. He has a solution to save gardenersĀ  time and energy and will be presenting a demonstration on assembling components of an automatic watering system from faucet to tubing, alongĀ  with telling where the items needed can be found.
