PRESCOTT – Sunday afternoon was a time of celebration for seniors at Prescott High School, as commencement exercises were held in the PHS gym.

While rain threatened, only a few drops fell here and there, but no one cared as the gym was packed with family and friends of the seniors. There were no speeches from the honor graduates this year, which allowed the ceremony to conclude in less than an hour.

As always, the seniors entered to the tune of “Pomp and Circumstance” taking their place behind the podium. Superintendent Robert Poole was introduced by Highest Honor Grad Carston Poole.

Poole thanked everyone for coming, told the audience it was all right for them to shout when their graduate’s name was called, but to quieten down and show respect for others as their graduates were called. The audience was also informed no one would be allowed on the gym floor after the ceremony was over.

Poole reminded the audience this wouldn’t be happening without the help and cooperation of the parents and families in the district. He thanked them for allowing the PSD to have their children these last 13 years.

Honor grads were the first recognized, followed by the rest of the graduating class. In all 63 were presented with diplomas. All were confirmed by Tommy Poole PHS principal.
