PRESCOTT – Soon, residents of Prescott will have another option when it comes to home internet, phone and television providers.

South Central Connect had representatives in town Friday at the City Park to talk to people about what’s coming, and see if service will be available in their area. Jamie Farrell, general manager at South Central, said the company will start drops and installs in the city limits next month. The reason South Central is coming to Prescott and Nevada County, he said, is because the big telecom companies forgot about the area because it’s so small. There will be a $100 installation fee, but it will be true fiberoptic. Farrell added the install fee can be spread out over four payments to make it easier on customers and residents.

As far as internet service, which is with unlimited data usage, the costs are as follows: essential, 200 mbps up and down, $55 per month; enhanced, with 500 mbps up and down, $75 per month, and elite, with a gigabyte up and down, $100 a month. This is the price for residential customers. For businesses, 100 mbps is $100, 300 mbps is $299.95 and a gig is $349 a month. Additionally, South Central has 24-hour support with fully-certified technicians working Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. until 8 p.m. and weekends from 12-8 p.m. Most residential issues can be fixed over the phone, but when they can’t, he said a tech will be sent out. Most problems will be corrected in less than 24 hours unless there’s a major outage, which will take longer.

He pointed out South Central is also offering unlimited local and long distance service for $29.95 a month, and a variety of TV packages ranging from basic, with 38 channels, at $43.99 a month to ultra, at $179.99 a month. A DVR can be added for $12.95 a month. Other add on packages are available, including premium movie channels for an additional charge. To see what’s available, visit southcentralconnect. net and go to the TV section to see the stations available.

At this time, Farrell said, the company is working to get people to sign up for its services.
