Lacy retires after 38 years with Southern Pines

PRESCOTT – It was an afternoon of both joy and sorrow as the staff and residents at Southern Pines bid farewell to Stella Lacy.

Lacy worked at Southern Pines for 38 years, starting when the nursing home was still Prescott Manor. She began as a certified nursing assistant and took on the role of Activity and Social Work Director. The staff gathered in the cafeteria where a table was filled with goodies, including a money tree and a cake bearing the logo of Lacy’s favorite NFL football team, the Dallas Cowboys. One member of the staff joked with Lacy, saying she didn’t want that logo on her cake (as he is a Steelers fan).

Still, everyone shared memories during the celebration and wished Lacy and her family well.

Beyond her professional endeavors, Lacy’s heart belongs to her family, including her children and grandchildren. She cherishes moments spent with them, embodying the values of love and family unity. Outside of work and family, Stella finds joy in various activities, such as fishing and occasional visits to the casino. However, her strongest passion lies in her faith, as she finds solace and purpose in attending church and nurturing her relationship with God.

As Stella embarks on this new chapter of her life, her colleagues express deep gratitude for her years of service and the positive impact she has made. While her departure leaves a void in the organization, her legacy of compassion and dedication will long be remembered and cherished by all who had the privilege of working alongside her.
